Streaming Devices
To connect a streaming or gaming device to the network it will need to be added to our Network's list of allowed devices via its MAC Address. Below are step-by-step guides on how to locate the MAC addresses for the most common devices.
*Google Home, Chromecast, and the original Nintendo Wii will not work.
*No personal routers are permitted. They will be blocked automatically.
Amazon Fire Stick/TV
Select Menu from the Home screen.
Select Settings > Device Info. The address appears in the Wi-Fi MAC Address field.
Amazon Echo
Open the Alexa app on your phone.
Click the "Devices" tab on the bottom of the screen.
Click the "Echo & Alexa" option in the Devices screen.
Choose the Echo you are looking to pair on the wifi.
Scroll to the bottom and choose the "About" option. The MAC Address will be listed on this screen.
Note: If this is a New In Box Echo you will need to bring this device to the Solution Center to get connected to the Network.
Roku
Select Settings > Network and then locate the Wireless MAC Address.
Note: If this is a New In Box Roku you will need to bring this device to the Solution Center to get connected to the Network.
Nintendo Switch
Select the Menu and then select System Settings.
Select Internet Settings.
Select Other Information, and then select Confirm MAC Address to display the MAC address.
Playstation 4
Select the Menu and then select Settings.
Select System > System Information to display the MAC address.
Xbox One
Select the Settings tile.
Select the Network tile.
Select Advanced Settings to display the MAC address.
Smart TV's
Due to the varying settings menus between each manufacturer we recommend a google search to find out how to obtain the Wireless MAC address for your specific model of Smart TV.
Playstation 5
If it isn't already, turn the console on.
From the Playstation Home screen, select Settings on the top right of the screen,
Select System.
Select System Software.
Select Console Information.
Make a note of the MAC Address (Wi-Fi).
Xbox Series X/Series S
Navigate to the Settings page.
Select Network.
Select Advanced Settings.
MAC address will be listed next to "Wireless MAC" on the right hand side of the screen (this is also where the IP address and other information is located)
After you have located your MAC address please follow the steps below to self-registration
Visit this link: Seton Hill Device Self-Registration and log in with your SetonHill Username and password while connected to SHU-Secure from a separate . (Do not include @setonhill.edu)
Read and agree to the acceptable use policy and click Complete Registration.
Add the MAC address for your devices that don’t have browsers - like smart TVs and game consoles by clicking the Add button.
Leave the User Name filled in and enter the MAC address like in these examples:
99:9e:63:38:47:94 99-9e-63-38-47-94 and 999e63384794 formats will all work
Enter a helpful description to help yourself later. E.g. xbox, nook, LGTV, etc…
Click "Submit"
Your device should start working on “SetonHill_Guest” wireless.

Be sure you submitted the correct MAC/Hardware/LAN address. Registration lasts 300 days.
If you cannot connect please place a Support Ticket and include the MAC address after attempting to connect to SHU_Guest.
